You’ve been sensing it for a while now.
There’s this quiet, persistent feeling that you were created for something more; something beyond boardrooms, performance reviews, and corporate routines. On the outside, you’re successful. You’ve climbed the ladder, earned the title, and checked all the boxes.
But deep down, you’re wondering: “Is this all there is?”
You’re drawn to the idea of coaching; not just as a business, but as a way to help people grow, heal, and walk in purpose. You imagine leading conversations that change lives, working in alignment with your faith, and finally doing work that feels like ministry, not just a paycheck.
Still, the question lingers: “Is God actually calling me to this… or am I just chasing a fantasy?”
If you’ve ever wrestled with that question, you’re not alone. In fact, it might be the very question God is using to draw you closer and reveal your next assignment.
Let’s see what it really means to be called and how to recognize when coaching isn’t just a good idea… it’s a God idea

Why This Question Matters (Especially Now)
In a world that constantly shouts “build the brand,” “chase the bag,” and “be your own boss,” it can be hard to know what’s divine direction and what’s just noise. As a faith-led woman in corporate leadership, you’ve probably been taught to play it safe and to stick with what’s proven, practical, and profitable.
But when God begins to stir something deeper, that old formula stops working.
More and more Christian women (especially those over 40) are realizing that their years of experience weren’t just about climbing ladders. They were preparation for something greater: Kingdom impact. Coaching isn’t just a career move. For many of us, it’s a calling and a way to disciple others, share our testimony, and create businesses that glorify God.
If you’ve been asking, “Is God calling me into coaching?” or “Can I really do this and still honor my values?”, that’s not a small question. That’s a spiritual moment worth pausing for.
Because here’s the truth: the marketplace needs more faith-based coaches who aren’t just teaching strategy, but stewarding purpose. The kind of coach who prays before planning, seeks the Spirit before selling, and leads others not just to success but to significance.
And the timing is not random. You’re not late. You’re not behind. You’re exactly where God can begin to move through you.
7 Spiritual Signs God Might Be Calling You Into Coaching
So how do you really know if God is calling you into coaching; especially when you’re still in the 9-5?
Sometimes His leading doesn’t come through a booming voice or flashing neon sign. A lot of times, it’s a series of subtle spiritual confirmations (what I call breadcrumbs from Heaven). Here are seven signs to prayerfully consider if you’re wondering, “Is God calling me into coaching?”
1. You feel restless in your current role.
What once satisfied you in your corporate job now feels… incomplete. You’re doing well, but you’re not fulfilled. There’s this sense that your gifts are meant for something more and that “more” won’t be found inside the four walls of your current office.
2. People naturally come to you for advice, encouragement, or breakthrough.
Whether it’s coworkers, church friends, or family members; people are always seeking your wisdom. You have a God-given ability to listen, discern, and speak life into their situations. Guess what? That’s coaching in disguise.
3. Coaching, purpose, or entrepreneurship keep showing up…everywhere.
You keep hearing messages about purpose. Coaching podcasts pop up in your feed. Scriptures about boldness, calling, or launching out keep coming up in devotionals. You think it’s coincidence… but it might be confirmation.

4. You’ve received prophetic words, dreams, or spiritual nudges about your next chapter.
Maybe someone spoke a word over you. Maybe you had a dream where you were teaching or mentoring. Or maybe you just keep sensing that God is preparing you for something outside the norm. Pay attention because God often speaks in patterns.
5. You come alive when you help others grow.
When you’re mentoring someone or guiding them through a problem, you feel completely in your zone. It’s not draining but energizing. That joy could be a sign that coaching is part of your Kingdom assignment.
6. You can’t shake the desire to start something of your own.
The idea of building a coaching business; one that reflects your values, helps people, and honors God just won’t leave you alone. It keeps circling back, even if you’ve tried to ignore it. That desire may be God’s invitation to dream with Him.
7. It scares you… but excites your spirit.
You’re afraid of failing, of what people will think, of not being “ready.” But under the fear, there’s this spark…a quiet excitement that feels like home. That’s often how you know it’s God: it stretches you, but it aligns with your spirit.
If any of these resonate deeply, they’re worth sitting with in prayer. God rarely gives us the full picture all at once but He does give us enough to take the next step.

But What If It’s Not the Right Time? (And You're Still in the 9-5)

Let’s be honest: the idea of leaving your secure job to step into coaching can feel… overwhelming.
Maybe you’re supporting your family.
Maybe you’ve worked too hard to just “walk away.”
Maybe you’re asking, “God, if You’re really calling me… why does the timing feel so complicated?”
Here’s the truth: a calling doesn’t always mean quit tomorrow.
In fact, God often calls us long before He releases us. Think about Moses; raised in Pharaoh’s palace but called to lead a nation. Or Joseph who was given a dream as a teen, but not promoted until years (and several detours) later. Or Esther who was positioned in the palace for such a time as this, even when she didn’t see it coming.
You might still be in your 9-5 because God is preparing you financially, spiritually, emotionally, and even strategically.
🔑 Your corporate job isn’t wasted time. It’s training ground.
Every meeting, every mentorship moment, every presentation — God can use it all in your future coaching business.
So if you’re feeling the tension of “called but not yet released,” know this: obedience starts with the step in front of you.
- You can start learning about coaching before you launch.
- You can start building clarity before you build the business.
- You can start preparing in faith before the full vision unfolds.
God honors faith in motion even when it looks like baby steps.
What To Do If You Think You're Being Called
You don’t need to have it all figured out to start moving in obedience.
If your spirit is stirring and coaching keeps coming up in prayer, conversations, or quiet moments that’s worth exploring. Don’t rush, but don’t ignore it either.
Here are 5 steps to take if you believe God might be calling you into coaching:
1. Pray for clarity and confirmation.
Ask God directly: “Is this You, Lord?” He’s not trying to confuse or trick you. Invite Him into the conversation. Journal what you sense. Pay attention to scriptures, sermons, or messages that seem to “speak directly to you.”
2. Begin researching and learning about coaching.
You don’t have to launch a business tomorrow, but you can start learning. Read books, listen to podcasts, explore what Christian coaching actually looks like. The more you learn, the more your spirit will confirm what resonates.
3. Notice divine alignments.
Is someone unexpectedly talking to you about coaching? Did you randomly stumble on this blog post? These aren’t accidents. God often uses people, content, and “coincidences” to confirm what He’s doing behind the scenes.

4. Talk to a trusted mentor or spiritual leader.
Share what you’re sensing with someone who knows your heart and hears from God. Ask for prayer and godly counsel. Sometimes others can see our next season more clearly than we can in the moment.
5. Take the next small step in faith.
Maybe that’s starting a prayer journal. Maybe it’s taking a course. Maybe it’s even taking a quiz to get clarity on your coaching style. (Hint: I’ve got just the thing for that below! 😉)
You don’t need the full map. You just need to move in the direction of God’s voice.
